Ambrose names Joe Hawkins as SVP, General Counsel

Former Duke Realty executive joins Indianapolis-based industrial, logistics and e-commerce developer and investment manager

INDIANAPOLIS – Ambrose Property Group announced today that Joe Hawkins has joined its executive leadership team as senior vice president and general counsel.

“The addition of Joe as senior vice president and general counsel enhances Ambrose’s ability to provide comprehensive, industry-leading service to our tenant and investor partners,” said Grant Goldman, executive vice president of development. “His background in commercial real estate is invaluable, and we look forward to the leadership he will provide within Ambrose.”

As senior vice president and general counsel, Hawkins will provide direction on overall company strategy with a focus on legal, risk management and compliance practices. He will also collaborate closely with Ambrose’s outside legal partners, with emphasis on leasing, joint ventures and capital markets.

Hawkins joins Ambrose after nearly 12 years with Duke Realty (NYSE: DRE), where he held multiple roles, the most recent being senior vice president, legal – deputy general counsel. In this role, Hawkins oversaw legal activities related to development, leasing and asset management within the company’s critical West Coast markets, growing the portfolio from three million square feet to over 19 million square feet in just six years. During his career with Duke, he completed over $20 billion in transactions.

In October 2022, San Francisco-based industrial real estate giant Prologis, Inc. (NYSE: PLD), acquired Duke Realty; at which time, Hawkins joined CRG where he helped develop a national industrial acquisitions platform and served as senior vice president of portfolio management.

Prior to joining Duke Realty, Hawkins spent five years with Bingham McHale, LLP (now Dentons Bingham Greenebaum), where he focused on all aspects of real estate development, asset management and financing.

Hawkins holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Washington & Lee University. He is actively involved in several community boards, including Central Indiana Land Trust, The Penrod Society and the Park Tudor School Board of Trustees.
